Facial mesotherapy — Dr. Freddy Cascante

What it is and when it makes sense

Facial mesotherapy is the application, through very superficial micro-injections, of a personalised combination of biocompatible substances: non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, amino acids, B-group vitamins, antioxidants and trace elements.

It makes sense in dull, dehydrated skin, in uneven texture, or when there is a loss of quality linked to age, stress or accumulated sun damage. Also as a preparation before other treatments and as maintenance between more intensive sessions.

It does not make sense to correct marked wrinkles, to add volume, or to replace a more complete plan when the skin needs more than mesotherapy can offer.

My approach

The cocktail is personalised in each case. There is no single formula: I choose which active ingredients to use based on the skin you have, the season, and the treatment goal. In skin prone to hyperpigmentation I avoid stimulants that might worsen melasma; in fatigued skin I prioritise antioxidants.

I work with the leading brands on the market — Filorga NCTF, Sunekos, Nucleofill, among others — and the choice responds to clinical indication. I use mesotherapy gun or manual technique depending on what each area benefits from.

What the process looks like

The first visit assesses your skin type, history and goal. I propose the number of sessions — usually between 3 and 5 — and the interval (every 2–3 weeks).

Each session lasts about 30 minutes, with topical anaesthetic in more sensitive areas. Discomfort is mild: mild redness and small micro-bruises can occur and disappear within hours. You can return to your normal day the same day.

What to expect

The change is progressive and cumulative. From the 2nd session you will notice more luminous, hydrated skin. From the 3rd–4th session the improvement in texture, firmness and overall quality is visible.

Results last between 4 and 8 months depending on the baseline quality of your skin and your habits. Maintenance sessions every 3–4 months are recommended. Combined with laser or polynucleotides, the effect multiplies.

When I DO NOT recommend facial mesotherapy

When the patient is looking for an immediate change in a single session. Mesotherapy is cumulative by definition and disappoints anyone expecting a spectacular before-and-after.

Nor in skin with active dermatitis, infection, or allergy to any of the cocktail components. And not as a replacement for a corrective treatment when skin needs more than hydration.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions of facial mesotherapy are needed?

Between 3 and 5 sessions spaced every 2–3 weeks for the initial cycle. Then maintenance every 3–4 months.

Is the result visible after a single session?

No. Mesotherapy is cumulative: you will notice luminosity and hydration from the first session, but structural improvement in texture and firmness appears from the 3rd–4th session.

How is mesotherapy different from hyaluronic acid fillers?

Cross-linked hyaluronic acid provides volume or defines structure; mesotherapy uses non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid plus vitamins and amino acids to improve skin quality without changing anatomy. They are complementary techniques.

Can I resume normal activity afterwards?

Yes. Mild redness and small bruises may appear and resolve within hours. I recommend avoiding intense sport and direct sun for the first 24 hours.
